I admit it – I struggle with blog post ideas. I love to write and I love to share information but when it comes to writing blog posts for my own site (I’m a whiz when it comes to client blog posts), I often find myself staring at a blank screen. In March, I’m doing a talk about the importance of blogging, so I figured the universe is telling me to write about it.
The biggest trouble most of us have with blogging is coming up with what to write. With that said, here are
Ten ideas to inspire a blog post
- Write about a question people ask you about your business.
- Industry article or blog post you read – your take on the article or the issue raised in the article.
- Your recent new client or client success.
- Something you recently learned yourself (can you tell I recently listened to a webinar about the importance of blogging?).
- How you do something for your own business (for example ,how repurpose a press release or how I adjust image sizes).
- Share an image or video as your blog post. With social media today, images and video are just as important to words. Create an image like the one with this blog post with a text overlay and there’s your post (hey, maybe I should write a post about how to do that!).
- Your favorite apps (not appetizers, although folks love those too) – we all love new apps whether they are work related or just plain fun.
- Head to a coffee shop and eavesdrop. As I write this, I have been listening to an older man discuss with a woman job search challenges when you’re older. He has a great attitude and some good ideas.
- A tip from your area of expertise. Yes, you may think everyone knows this tip already, but they probably don’t and will likely appreciate the insight (my recent image sizes for 2016 post proves this to me).
- Profile a colleague or client. Who doesn’t love a big shout out? Share some blog love and let your readers, clients, friends, family, whoever, know about the cool people in your life.
